Dennis Wayne Nikolayson – Obit

Dennis Wayne Nikolayson passed away on February 16, 2022, at Altru hospital at age 76. Dennis was born January 23, 1946, in Reynolds, North Dakota, to Adolph and Esther (Moen) Nikolayson.

Dennis resided there till age 3. The family moved to a farm outside Erskine, Minnesota, where he resided and farmed. Dennis attended Erskine High School and was active in band, choir, football, and photography. He attended technical school for auto body repair and then returned to the farm.

On April 5th, 1975, he was united in marriage to Marcelyn Bacon of Mora, Minnesota. They had two sons, Travis and Denton. Dennis served on the town board and the state watershed board. He also served on the Red Lake watershed board.

Dennis is survived by his wife Marcelyn and son Travis + Heather and Denton + Sofia Nikolayson of Erskine. He loved all his family, but his grandchildren were especially loved. Marfa, Nadia, and Joeseph Nikolayson and four stepgrandchildren, Austin, Logan, Olivia, and Zachary Simonson. Also surviving Brother and sister-in-law, Russell and Patti Bacon, nieces and nephews.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents and sister Amy Hamre and brother in law Leroy Hamre, in-laws Forest and Twyla Bacon, Brother-in-law Sterling Bacon

A service to celebrate Dennis’s life will be held on Saturday 26, 2022, at 2 P.M. at Grace Lutheran in Erskine, Minnesota.

Visitation one hour prior to the service.
