DGF SCORES FIRST 17 POINTS OF GAME AND CRUISES PAST PIRATE BOYS HOOPS

The Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton Rebels used suffocating defense to score the first 17 points of the game, and they never looked back as they cruised to a 79-44 victory over the  Crookston Pirate Boys Basketball team in a Section 8AA match-up played in Glyndon.

FIRST HALF-
DGF used stellar pressure defense to force Crookston into five turnovers in the first seven possessions and started the game on a 17-0 run. Eight different DGF players scored in the run. Crookston finally got on the board when Rylin Lubarski made a long two-point shot with 10:58 left in the half. Reggie Winjum added another basket to bring Crookston within a 17-4 deficit.
DGF’s defense continued to cause all kinds of problems for the Pirates as they struggled to get shots off the rest of the half as they took a 44-12 lead into halftime. Crookston had more turnovers than points in the half.

SECOND HALF-
DGF started the second half by scoring the first four points for a 48-12 lead. Winjum added a basket, and then the teams exchanged points for several minutes. Crookston trailed 62-25 with 12:41 remaining in the game when Tyler Michaelson made a three-pointer, and Hunter Nicholas scored in the paint for five straight Pirate points, but the DGF still led 62-30.  After a DGF basket, Winjum scored, and Isaac Thomforde made a three-pointer to get within a 64-35 deficit with over 10 minutes remaining. Shortly after the clock hit nine minutes left in the game, it went into running time with the Rebels leading 71-35.  DGF went deep to the bench and played all 15 players, with 11 scoring, as they won the game 79-44.

Crookston drops to 2-7 on the year and will play Hawley on Thursday.  DGF improves to 5-5 on the year.
