May is Mental Health Awareness Month. The annual recognition’s theme for 2025 is “Strength in Connection,” highlighting the vital role that community, support systems, and meaningful relationships play in mental well-being. Studies show that 58% of older adults believe depression is a normal part of aging. RiverView Health’s Senior Life Solutions (SLS) Team wants everyone to know that’s not true. Feeling down occasionally is a normal part of life; however, if these feelings last weeks or months, you may be dealing with something more serious.
Learn how RiverView’s SLS program can help older adults experiencing depression, anxiety, and/or other mental health challenges at the May 21 health luncheon, Improving Older Adult Mental Health. Senior Life Solutions provides outpatient services designed to meet the unique needs of individuals (typically 65 and older) who could benefit from coping and communication skills to improve their mental health. The program offers group and individual therapy, psychiatric evaluation, and medication management.
At the noon luncheon, Cindy Strom, SLS program director, will explain how the program supports older adults in the community, what services are provided, who would benefit from it, and how to make a referral for services. The health luncheon will take place in the Conference Rooms of RiverView Health, Crookston. Registration is required and can be done by calling Strom at 281.9454.
