Dorothy Patnode – Obit

Dorothy Patnode, 93, passed away on Thursday, January 21, 2021, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

Private family Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, January 25, 2021, at 1:00 PM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls, MN with Father Bob Schreiner Officiating. Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery near Red Lake Falls, MN.

Dorothy Barbara Patnode was born January 1, 1928, in Mayfield Township near Plummer, MN daughter of Ewert and Annie (Schmidt) Rewertz. She attended school in Thief River Falls, MN. She worked as a waitress in Grand Forks for a short time.

On December 29, 1949, she was united in marriage to Virgil Patnode at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls, MN. To this union, six children were born Dave, Ira, Bob, Theresa, Sue, and Rosi. They made their home in Red Lake Falls where they raised their children.

Dorothy “Dot” was kind, selfless, and giving. She centered her life around her family. Entering her home meant you would always be welcome, well-fed, and surrounded by her love. Her huge heart and a great sense of humor resulted in countless happy memories with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her the greatest joy. She led her family with eternal love, acceptance, and pure goodness. She also enjoyed quilting, gardening, baking, watching the Twins, and her once monthly trip to the casino. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and guild and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Dorothy is survived by her children Dave Patnode of Fremont, WI, Ira (Irene) Patnode of Dorothy, MN, Theresa Patnode of Red Lake Falls, MN, Sue (Alan) Grove of Glyndon, MN, and Rosi (Doug) Lizotte of Burlington, WA; grandchildren Jamie (Rod) Gennrich, Carin Haen, Corey (Nicole) Weise, Christopher (Shelly) Weise, Ellishia (Bjorn) Turnwall, Maggie Patnode, Michelle Patnode, Adam (Jamie) Patnode, Jessie (Sarah) Patnode, Nathon Patnode, Josh (Sam) Grove, Amy (Dustin) Johnson, Matthew Lizotte, Laura Lizotte; great-grandchildren Ivy, Etta, Treyden, Bailey, Boden, Gavyn, Brianna, Alexandra, Noah, Zachary, Leanna, Gracie, Jacob, Benjamin, Owen, Liam, Miles, Mason; sisters Ann Cardinal of Minneapolis, MN and Janet Klettke of Fremont, WI; along with several nieces and nephews.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, husband Virgil, son Bob “Bones,” siblings Wilfred Rewertz, Lawrence Rewertz, Jimmy Rewertz, George Rewertz, Lloyd Rewertz, Bob Rewertz, and Marie Marshall.
