Giving Hearts Day 2025 is this Thursday, February 13 and The Benedictine Living Community is asking you to help through a donation to show your love for the people who call Benedictine Living Community-Crookston home.
Last year, The Benedictine Living Community had over $31,000 in donations and was able to update its WanderGuard System. Cassie Rudie, Foundation Development Director and Director of Marketing for the Benedictine Living Community, says they have a unique process when it comes to Giving Hearts Day. “We have been participating in Giving Hearts Day since 2020 here at Benedictine Living Community. Of Course, in 2020, things were a little bit different, and we couldn’t have people coming into the building, so we started this drive-thru event,” says Rudie. “Giving away donuts and warm beverages.”
Rudie says that their donor-funded ambulance garage at their Villa South Entrance is used for donors to make donations. “It’s a heated garage that vehicles can pull up in,” says Rudie. “We have it all set up on Giving Hearts Day. We have volunteers there from 7:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., and people can pull on in, drop off their donations, and we will give them a donut and a warm beverage to go.”
This year, the Benedictine Living Community is raising funds through Giving Hearts Day and other fundraisers to make updates in the Assisted Living Apartments and rooms on the Skilled Nursing Home side. “A lot of these spaces haven’t been updated since the mid 90’s and just need a good refresh,” says Rudie. “New flooring and paint in our Assisted Living, we will be doing cabinets and countertops and just kind of giving everything a nice fresh update.”
You can help the Benedictine Living Community this Thursday on Giving Hearts Day by pulling through their heated garage and giving a donation and getting your donut and hot beverages, and also by going online. “You can go to givingheartsday.org, or we even have a banner at the top of our website, benedictinecrookston.org where you can make your Giving Hearts Day donation,” says Rudie. “We appreciate the support; the community is always so wonderful and so supportive of us.”
Thursday is Giving Hearts Day. Support the Benedictine Living Community by driving through to drop off your donation and leave with a donut, a beverage, and a good feeling knowing you have helped.
