DuWayne D. Schroeder – Obit

DuWayne D. Schroeder, 82, Ada, MN, passed away on Tuesday, March 30, 2021, at his residence in Ada.

DuWayne David Schroeder was born on September 8, 1938, to William (Bill) and Louise Schroeder, in Ada, MN, and was baptized and confirmed in St. John’s Lutheran Church in Green Meadow Township. DuWayne resided in Ada for most of his life.

DuWayne served in the Navy and then the Air National Guard full time as a crew chief for more than 30 years, where his coworkers affectionately nicknamed him “Snuffy.” He was proud of being a “Happy Hooligan.” He loved spending time at the lake with family, and fishing. His sense of humor and love of westerns, military movies, and card-playing were well known to all who knew him. He also loved taking road trips to visit relatives with family. DuWayne was always there to lend a helping hand to people in the community and will be sorely missed.

DuWayne loved coffee with his morning “crew” of friends at Lana Jo’s. He was very involved with the American Legion and VFW in Ada and participated in the Honor Guard.

DuWayne is survived by his wife, Connie, Ada, MN; daughter, JeNoelle (Edward) Flom, Davenport, ND; son, Kurt (Stacy) Schroeder, Moorhead, MN; grandchildren, Karsten and Riley Flom, and Zachary and Jacob Schroeder; and sister, Idella Hendrickson.

DuWayne is preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Louise Schroeder; and brother, Charles Schroeder.

Memorial Service with full military rites: 2:00 PM, Saturday, April 10, 2021, at Zion Lutheran Church, Ada, MN, following all of the Minnesota and CDC COVID-19 social distancing guidelines. All must wear a mask to attend.

Visitation: A walk-through visitation will take place two hours before the memorial service at the church.

Inurnment: Ada Municipal Cemetery, Ada, MN.
