EARLY MONDAY MORNING PURSUIT IN GRAND FORKS, POLICE SEARCH FOR TWO

On Monday, June 3 at approximately 12:32 a.m. officers of the Grand Forks Police Department conducted a traffic stop in the area of 6th Avenue South and Cottonwood Street.  The vehicle, a green Honda Accord, continued to 500 Cherry Street before the driver, Charles Collins, and an unknown passenger fled from the vehicle while it was still moving at a slow rate of speed.  The vehicle continued north from the area where it struck a tree on the 500-block of Cherry.  After striking the tree the vehicle proceeded uninterrupted until it drove over the curb in the area of 1st Avenue South and Cherry Street.  The vehicle came to a rest after it struck a tree at this location.

A perimeter was established by officers and a K9 track was conducted.  Neither the driver nor the passenger were located.  Charges are being forwarded against Charles Collins for the matter.
