Edward Gasper – Obit

After a long and difficult illness, Edward George Gasper passed away on January 25, 2019, with his loving family by his side at the Villa St. Vincent in Crookston, MN, where he had lived for the past 4 1/2 years. He was 89 years old.

Ed was born in Minneapolis on August 17, 1929, to George and Ann Gasper. He graduated from De La Salle High School and attended the University of Minnesota. He served in the US Navy during the Korean War and received an honorable discharge.

He retired from Estee Lauder as the Regional Sales Manager in 1990.

He is survived by his children, Michael (Connie) Gasper, Crookston, Tom (Bonnie) Gasper, Eden Prairie, Catherine (Robert) O’Keefe, Austin, TX, Nancy (Brian) Macmanus, Harlingen, TX; 14 grandchildren, Crystal (Adam) Maruska, Joel (Tiffany) Gasper, Danielle (Gabriel) Carlson, and Rachel, Rebecca and Joe Gasper, Matt (Kendal) O’Keefe, Amanda O’Keefe, JC (Abby) O’Keefe, and Justin, Alec, Laura, Julia and Naomi Macmanus; along with 10 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Mary Ann Goulet, brother-in-law, John Goulet, and infant sister, Margaret.

During retirement Ed enjoyed traveling with his dear friend, Jan Voigt, golfing, and visiting with family and friends. Ed enjoyed his time with his children and grandchildren, especially watching them participate in their athletic events. He was extremely proud of all their accomplishments.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Villa St. Vincent for Ed’s final years of care, and to Family Means of Stillwater for the wonderful caregiving support programs, with special thanks to Don (deceased), Anne, and Dave for their years of dedication.

A Celebration of Ed’s life will be at St. Hubert’s Catholic Community, 8201 Main Street, Chanhassen MN, on Monday, February 11, 2019. Visitation will begin at 10am followed by a mass at 11am. Ed will be buried at Fort Snelling with Military Honors at 2pm.

In lieu of gifts and flowers, Memorials may be given in memory of Ed to the Villa St. Vincent, 516 Walsh St, Crookston, MN 56716.
