EGF FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTRICATES PERSON OUT OF CAR STUCK IN A CULVERT

The East Grand Fire Department and Polk County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a single-vehicle accident at 7:37 a.m. on Tuesday, near 390th Avenue SW and 130th Street SW, in Sullivan Township, near the City of East Grand Forks. The vehicle was stuck in a culvert.

A 2018 GMC Yukon was driving east on 130th Street SW, and entered the south ditch, striking a culvert that runs under 390th Avenue SW. The culvert was up to the third row of the vehicle. The female driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, Tonya Marie Jensen, 38 of East Grand Forks, sustained serious injuries. Jensen was extricated from the vehicle at 8:51 a.m. and was transported via ambulance Altru Hospital in Grand Forks.

The East Grand Forks Fire Department and Polk County Sheriff’s office was assisted on the scene by Altru Ambulance, Minnesota State Patrol, and Stuart’s Towing.

The accident remains under investigation by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office. No further details will be released at this time.
