EGF Fire Department responds to a house fire

On Thursday, December 12, at 10:13 a.m., the East Grand Forks Fire Department was dispatched to a house fire on the 500 block of 3rd Ave NE. Fire crews arrived on the scene to light smoke from the eves of the one-story home.
Entry was made into the residence with a handline to find a small fire in the attic of the back bedroom. Crews quickly put out the fire and contained fire damage to the room of origin. The rest of the house also sustained light smoke damage. Fire investigators determined that the fire most likely started due to faulty wiring in the home’s attic space.
The residents of the home were displaced do to the fire and are being assisted by the Red Cross. The fire department responded with 17 personnel, two fire trucks, one ladder truck, and four support vehicles. The East Grand Fork Police Department, Altru Ambulance, and the East Grand Forks Water and Light also assisted
. The East Grand Forks Fire Department would like to remind the public of the importance of having working smoke detectors in their homes and businesses and to stay safe during this holiday season.
