EGF SWEEP CROOKSTON PIRATE VOLLEYBALL

The East Grand Forks Green Wave started the match on a 14-2 run and cruised to a 3-0 (25-9, 25-6, 25-10) victory over the Crookston Pirate Volleyball team in a Section 8AA matchup at the East Grand Forks Senior High School Gymnasium.

FIRST SET
East Grand Forks started the match strong while going on a 14-2 run to start. Addison Kujava led the Green Wave with three kills, two kills from Ella Gerber, and an ace apiece from Alison Kovar and Emma Marcott. Crookston stopped the run with a Joey Nesseth kill before EGF countered with an Ellie Marcott kill. East Grand Forks led 21-9, and after a Pirate attack error, Kovar and Kujava had back-to-back kills before Crookston hit the ball out of bounds, and the Green Wave won 25-9.

SECOND SET
The teams were tied at 1 and 2 before East Grand Forks went on a 9-0 run that was sparked by two Kujava kills, an Ellie Marcott kill, an ace from Kovar which was followed by five straight Crookston attack errors and the Green Wave led 11-2. Crookston’s Emma LaPlante stopped the run with a kill before Kujava and Ellie Marcott had kills. East Grand Forks dominated the rest of the way, ending on a 12-3 run for a 25-6 victory. The Green Wave brought in Tatem Votava, and she had three kills in five points in the run, and five different players had kills.

THIRD SET
The teams were tied at 1-1 before Crookston scored the next three points behind a Kristine Bernd kill and two EGF errors for a 4-1 lead. Crookston led 6-4 when East Grand Forks went on a 6-0 run with three Pirate attack errors and a kill apiece from Ellie Marcott, Zoe Nelson, and McKaylee Fitzpatrick for a 10-6 lead. EGF led 11-8 after an Emma LaPlante kill, but the Green Wave countered with an 8-0 run sparked by a Fitzpatrick kill, Kujava added two kills, and Fitzpatrick added an ace, and they led 19-8. A Funk kill stopped the run, but the next Pirate serve went out of bounds, and the Green Wave ended the match on a 5-0 run, with the final two points coming on two Emma Marcott service aces for a 25-10 victory to win the match 3-0.

Crookston drops to 2-17 on the year and will host Warren-Alvarado-Oslo on Tuesday.  East Grand Forks improves to 19-6 on the year and will travel to Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton on Monday.
