Ella Marie (Hanson) Peterson, 90, of Watkins, MN, and formerly of Crookston, MN, passed away Sunday afternoon, July 3, 2022, surrounded by family at the Hilltop Health Care Center in Watkins.

Ella was born September 8, 1931, on the family farm near Brooks, MN to Charles and Dorilda (Carriveau) Davis. She graduated from Oklee High School in Oklee, MN. Following high school, Ella moved to Crookston, MN where she met the love of her life, Warren Hanson. Warren and Ella were united in marriage on May 18, 1953. Sadly, Warren passed away in April 1978. On April 6, 1990, Ella married Durward (Sonny) Peterson. Ella enjoyed her long working career at Tri-Valley Opportunity Council, retiring as Human Resource Director in Feb. 1999. Following Ella’s retirement, her and Sonny moved to Glenwood, MN, and spent a few winters in Pharr, TX until health issues prevented travel. Sadly, Sonny passed away in Feb. 2018. During Ella’s later years, she lived at Hilltop Assisted Living in Watkins. She always had a loving caretaker nearby as her son Scott was right down the road, living in Eden Valley. She spent many weekends at Scott’s house until her health issues became too difficult to travel. Ella loved our Lord Jesus, and she was a faithful prayer warrior for many.

Ella and Warren were blessed with three sons, Mike, Scott, and Todd; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She is survived by her sons Mike (Kathy) Crookston, MN; Scott, Eden Valley, MN; and Todd (Brenda) Grand Forks, ND; three grandchildren, Lisa Hanson, Jessica (Tony) Nelson, and Eric Hanson; five great-grandchildren, Jacob, Noah, and Micah Nelson; Maya Hanson; Payton Pierce. Sisters, Mary Lou Mersenski, Jenny Ann Vattendahl, and brother, Charles Davis (Janette); sisters-in-law, Yvonne Hanson, and Patty (Ty) Spies; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Dorilda Davis; husbands Warren 1978, and Sonny 2018; sister, Carol Gerardy; brothers-in-law, Leroy Hanson, Wayne Hanson, Jerry Gerardy, Mark Mersenski, and Joel Vattendahl; and sister-in-law, Rosemond Hanson.

A Memorial Service honoring Ella’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 29, 2022, at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Crookston. Visitation with the family will be for one hour prior to the Mass. A family graveside service will follow at the Calvary Cemetery in Crookston. Both services will be live streamed by going to Ella’s obituary page at www.stenshoelhouske.com
