Eric Wayne Johnson – Obit

Eric Wayne Johnson, 43, Ada, Minnesota, passed away Saturday, November 12, 2022, with family by his side.

Eric was born on August 30, 1979, to Ralph and Karen (Kvendru) Johnson in Ada, Minnesota. The youngest of three children, Eric was the mischievous little brother that

brought a smile to everyone in the neighborhood. His love of driving started with peddling his Hot Wheels around the neighborhood to cruising in his Camaro around town. Eric had a love for sports which started in the empty lot next to Strand’s Market, where you could find him playing baseball or football with his friends most days.

Eric graduated from Ada-Borup High School in 1998. He then received his Associates Degree in Sales and Marketing from Northwest Technical College in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. After graduation, Eric returned to Ada to manage Ralph’s Food Pride. He purchased the grocery store when Ralph retired in 2015. He continued to work in the grocery business until his passing. Eric was also a member of the Ada Volunteer Fire Department for many years, and he enjoyed spending his vacation time helping local farmers with the harvest.

In first grade, Eric came home from school and said, “I’m going to marry Jordan Ruebke someday.” On June 7, 2003, Eric married Jordan Ruebke at St. Joseph’s Church in Ada, Minnesota. In 2006, they welcomed Emily Marie, and in 2009, Gavin Charles completed their family of four. Eric was a dedicated father who enjoyed completing the nightly bedtime routine with his kids. He loved playing sports with Gavin and teaching Emily how to drive. He attended every sporting event or performance they were participating in. His children were his pride and joy.

Eric is survived by his wife, Jordan; children, Emily and Gavin; parents, Ralph & Karen Johnson of Ada, MN; sisters, Gwen (Tim) Anderson of Belview, MN, and Elizabeth (Kevin) Graves of Colorado Springs, CO; Jordan’s parents, Jim & Kathy Ruebke of Ada, MN; and sister-in-law, Chelsea (Jimmy) Ellefson of West Fargo, ND. He had a great love for his five nieces, Christina Anderson, Olivia Graves, Elodie, Nora, and Ivy Ellefson. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
