Erling Holman – Obit

Erling Holman, age 79, of Ulen, MN, died Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at Viking Manor Nursing Home in Ulen.

Erling Paulus Holman was the first child born to Peder “Orville” and Dorothy (Melbye) Holman in Moorhead, MN, on November 17, 1942. His family lived in the Ulen area where Erling attended school, graduating with the class of 1960. After graduation, Erling entered the workforce, working as a farm laborer for area farmers. He also worked at American Crystal Sugar in Moorhead, MN, during the fall sugar beet campaign for several years. In the late 1960s, he began farming his own land. On November 9, 1973, Erling and Antionette “Toni” Williams were united in marriage at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Moorhead. The couple made their home on the farm in Ulen. Erling retired from farming, but continued to rent out his land and always kept busy. In 2017, Erling moved to Viking Manor Nursing Home in Ulen.

Erling enjoyed spending time at tractor auctions and auction sales to add to his antique collection. He was always fond of the red and orange tractors. He was a true animal lover and always had cats and dogs around the farm. Erling and Toni loved to travel, visiting museums, tractor shows, and discovering along the Lewis and Clark Trail. Erling was a member of the American Legion. His dry wit and sense of humor will be missed by all who knew him.

Erling is survived by his brothers: Dale Holman of Ulen and Hollis (Sandra) Holman of Hilman, MN; sister, Joyce (Bruce) West of Dilworth, MN; nephews, Jordan West and Ryan West of Moorhead; and cousins, Carol Ward of Ulen and Marjorie Baker of Moorhead.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Toni Holman, and his parents, Orville and Dorothy.

Funeral services will be held at a later date.

Please feel free to sign the guestbook, send condolences and view other opportunities which may be available to the public due to COVID-19 restrictions.

Arrangements entrusted to Anderson Family Funeral Home in Twin Valley.
