Ernest Clayton Gudvangen – Obit

Ernest Clayton Gudvangen, 71, of Crookston, MN, passed away at the Benedictine Living Center, Crookston, early Wednesday morning, December 16, 2020. Ernie, as he was best known to family and friends, had been a resident of the Villa since May of 2016.

Ernie was born at Crookston on January 17, 1949, the son of Edwin and Cora “Peggy” (Gronbeck) Gudvangen. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and as a young man began working on area farms. Ernie was a big fan of the Minnesota Twins, enjoyed listening to Beatles songs, and loved animals, especially rabbits.

Ernie is lovingly survived by 4 sisters and 2 brothers: Carol Schneider of Oklahoma City, OK, Beverly (Tom) Trujillo of Pueblo, CO, Linda (Larry) Delage of Crookston, MN, Susan Tincher of Buckeye, AZ, and David Gudvangen and James Gudvangen of Crookston; as well as, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Peggy Gudvangen; brother-in-law, George Schneider; and beloved niece, Michelle Gudvangen. May God bless the memory of Ernest Clayton Gudvangen.

A memorial service for Ernie Gudvangen will be held at 10:30 am, Wednesday, December 23, 2020, in the Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home, with Chaplain Bill Humiston, officiating. Visitation will be from 10-10:30 am, and the service will be live-streamed by logging on to www.stenshoelhouske.com 5 minutes before the start, going to the Ernest Gudvangen obituary site, and clicking on the prompt for viewing the service. It will be recorded for later viewing as well. Inurnment will take place at the Oakdale Cemetery, Crookston, in the spring. Memorials may be given in Ernie’s memory to the Benedictine/Villa Foundation.
