On Sunday, June 1, at approximately 1:03 P.M., the Polk County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a possible motorcycle crash on County Road 38, approximately one and a half miles north of Highway 2. A passerby discovered the crash scene and the driver of the motorcycle, Travis Shimpa (Age 39) of rural Erskine, was lying in the ditch. Travis was pronounced deceased at the scene by emergency personnel. At the time of the crash, it appears Shimpa was northbound on County Road 38, which is a gravel road.
At this time, the crash is under investigation and no further information will be released.
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Minnesota State Patrol, Erskine Fire and Rescue, and Essentia Ambulance.
