Everett Schulz – Obit

Everett Schulz, age 86, of rural Clearbrook, MN, passed away on Wednesday, December 16th, at his home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 22nd, at Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bagley with the Rev. Eli Voigt officiating. Interment will be in Cross Lake Cemetery, rural Fosston. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church. Military honors will be provided by Spring Lake V.F.W. Post #2791 of Lengby and the Naval Honors Team. Please wear a mask and practice social distancing guidelines if attending. Everett Leroy Schulz was born on November 10, 1934 in Euclid, Minnesota to parents Walter and Lena (Nielsen) Schulz. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Euclid. He went to country school through the eighth grade and later attained his GED.

He entered the United States Navy in March of 1956. He was on the crew of the destroyer, USS Porterfield, and a cargo ship during the Korean War. He received his honorable discharge in November of 1957 and returned home to Euclid.

Everett was united in marriage to Martha Sena Heide on April 18, 1959 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Moorhead, Minnesota. After their marriage they lived in Moorhead until 1963 and in the Twin Cities until 1978. In 1978, they moved their family to the farm in Eddy Township.

Everett owned and operated his own truck from 1968 until 1988 and also farmed small grains and livestock. He built his own home on that farm in 1980. Martha passed away on November 16, 2016.

Everett liked deer hunting, traveling, and in his younger years, snowmobiling. He took great pride in keeping his lawn nice and caring for his garden. He enjoyed sharing the fruits of his garden with family and friends. He also cut and split his own firewood.

He was a member of Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bagley and was a Life Member of the Spring Lake V.F.W. Post #2759 of Lengby.

Everett passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at his home at the age of 86 years.

Survivors include his four sons, Dean of Fosston, Dale (Ivy) of Grand Forks, ND, Gary of Fosston, and Royce (Stacy) of Hayward, WI; four grandchildren, Heide, Holly, Ellie Mae, and Riley; one brother, Walter Schulz; sister, Edith Danielson; stepson, Alex (Mercedie) Bement; and nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Martha; and two sisters, Mildred and Dorene.
