Fayne A. Keeler-OBIT

Fayne A. Keeler, 60, Crookston, MN, formerly of Erskine, MN, passed away on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at Benedictine Care Community in Ada, MN.

Fayne Ann Keeler was born on December 14, 1962, in Red Lake Falls, MN to Ardith (Wadenah) and Larry Sr. Eckstein. She graduated from high school and went on to attend culinary school in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota.

Fayne married John Keeler on June 25, 1983, and they began their journey living in Crookston, where Fayne helped contribute to the early lives of children by running a day care. This is where her dedication to helping others started, and from there, continued to grow. Along with her passion, their family grew, with Travis, who was born in 1983, and Fallon, who was born in 1985. Fayne and John started doing foster care, where they not only helped numerous children, but it is where they found their last son, Paul, who was born in 1990.

They moved from Crookston to Erskine, where they spent a big portion of their life living. Fayne continued to care for children both through daycare and foster care as well as just helping family whenever she could. She at different times had different nieces, cousins, and friend’s children stay with her anytime they wanted or needed a place to stay.

Fayne got to utilize her culinary experience while working at the bakery at Palubicki’s in Fosston as well as in the kitchen of many nursing homes over the years. She wanted to help contribute as much joy, kindness, and happiness as she could to the lives of not just those around her, but to the youth and elderly in her community.

She is survived by her parents, Larry and Jan Eckstein; siblings, Larry (Rose) Eckstein, Melvin Eckstein, Daren (Norah) Loken, and Loren (Robbie) Loken; children, Travis (Chris) Keeler, Fallon (Kyle) Solie and their children, Leon, Colten and Seth, and Paul (Amber) Keller and their children, Willow and John; and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Keeler; and mother, Ardith Wadenah.
