Polk County Public Health, Polk County Wellness Coalition, and many amazing community partners and volunteers are excited to share this year’s events for the upcoming February Fitness Fever. The first event will be this Sunday, February 2. “We’re very excited for February coming up and kicking off our February Fitness Fever this Sunday, February 2,” said Polk County Public Health Wellness Coordinator Amanda Lien. “We will be doing swimming at the Crookston Community pool from noon to 3:00 p.m. Prizes and treats will be available for everyone in attendance. I really want to say thank you to Crookston Parks and Rec for sponsoring that activity and very much looking forward to enjoying our community pool.”
On Sunday, February 9, Fitness Fever will take to the ice at the Crookston Sports Center. “The following Sunday from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. we will be doing ice skating at the Crookston Sports Center. We will have prizes, treats, ice skates available for everyone. If people don’t want to ice skate the indoor walking track is also available for people to use and get some activity in while at the Sports Center.”
Next up will be Winter Movement Indoor Fun at the Crookston Tae Kwan Do, Betty Finkenbinder with Burnham Creek Yoga, and Jodi Dragseth from Functionally Fit to give everyone a chance to try something new. “On Sunday, February 16 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. we will have our Indoor Winter Movement Day on the corner of West Robert and Main Street,” said Lien. “Many different activities for the kids to take part in. There will be Zumba with Jodi, yoga with Betty, and Tae Kwan Do with Rick. So, an opportunity to try something different, something new, and get moving and active. Again, we’ll have prizes and treats available on that day.”
February Fitness Fever will head outside to Central Park for the last Sunday of the month. “Our last Sunday of the month on February 23 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. will be our snowshoeing, cross country skiing, and sledding day at Crookston’s Central Park,” said Lien. “We as that people meet us at the top of the park hill, at the Crookston Swimming Pool parking lot. We’ll have free skis and snowshoes available for people to use. We also encourage people to bring their own sleds for sledding. It will be a fun way to close out a fun month of outdoor and indoor activity in the community. We’ll have a bonfire, hot cocoa, and really encourage people to come along and maybe try something you haven’t enjoyed before, get active, and enjoy our family fun events.”
Attendees are once again able to get free rides to the Fitness Fever events from Tri-Valley transportation Programs, T.H.E. Bus said, Lien. “A huge thank you to Tri-Valley Opportunity Council who provides free transportation to all the Crookston February Fitness events,” said Lien. “We ask that individuals or families call by 4:30 p.m. the Friday before the event.
