Casen James Cox is already doing what his mother asks; he waited until after the holidays to make his grand entrance into the world. His timing also earned him the title of the first baby born at RiverView Health in 2025!
With a due date of Jan. 9, Casen was born on Thursday, Jan. 2, at 2:45 pm to parents Amberly and Derek Cox. He weighed 9 pounds 10.1 ounces and was 20 ¼ inches long.
Amberly said she hadn’t thought much about having the first baby of the New Year; she just wanted to make it through the holidays before his or her arrival. Big sister Brynnly, 2 ½, met Casen a few hours after his delivery. Excited about her new baby brother, she wasn’t pleased when he couldn’t go home with her immediately, Amberly shared. Casen’s grandparents are Tom and Lori Pesall, New Brighton, MN, and Bill and Toni Cox, Walker, MN.
Amberly and Derek met while attending the University of Minnesota-Crookston and have called Crookston home for the past eight years. Both Brynnly and Casen were born at RiverView and delivered by Dr. Kari Wessman.
“We’ve had great experiences with Dr. Wessman and all of the nurses throughout pregnancy, postpartum, labor, and delivery,” Amberly reported. “The atmosphere at RiverView is very relaxing; everyone is accommodating, and they think of everything.”
