“FOLLOW THE STAR” A COMMUNITY LIVE DRIVE-BY NATIVITY EXPERIENCE HAPPENING IN CROOKSTON ON DEC. 19

Cathedral, First Presbyterian, St. Paul’s Lutheran, Trinity Lutheran, and Harvest Churches in Crookston invite everyone to “Follow the Star” on Sunday, December 19, from 5:00-6:00 p.m. The event is a community drive-by live nativity experience that will take 15-20 minutes to complete.

The event was also put on last year, and Francine Olson of Trinity Lutheran Church explained how it got started. “Historically in Crookston, we would have a stable service out at UMC,” said Olson. “Because of Covid, they did not have it last year, which gave us this idea. So, we made it a drive-by, and we had well over 100 cars that came through last year to the four different scenes scattered around Crookston. Last year Central Park was used as the final destination, and this year we’re going to all be in church parking lots.”

There will be a sheet handed out at the first location (Trinity Lutheran Church). The sheet will have clear instructions on where to go and what to do at each destination. There will be an interactive map to go along with the journey, available on KROX, the Crookston Times, church websites, and Facebook pages. There will also be a chance to donate diapers and non-perishable food items at the beginning of the journey that will be given to the Crookston Care and Share.

Olson explained what each step of the journey will look like. “It’s all going to start at Trinity Lutheran Church, and the first scene will be the Three Kings,” said Olson. “From there, you go to First Presbyterian, and that’s where the Angels will be with their bells. Continuing the map will show you to go to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church next where the Shepherds will be, and the final scene will be Cathedral where the manger scene will be. We have also added a fifth stop at Harvest church where caroling and beverages will be provided for those interested.”

The journey is expected to take at least 15 minutes, so the churches are asking everyone to start by 5:40 p.m. You can also tune in to KROX for Christmas music along the way. Scripture readings will be provided for the journey as well.
