FOUR PIRATE WRESTLERS ADVANCE TO SECOND DAY OF RUMBLE ON THE RED

The Crookston Pirate Wrestling team had eight wrestlers compete today in the Rumble on the Red Varsity Wrestling tournament at the Fargodome. There are 63 teams from Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota competing in the tournament, and Crookston has four wrestlers who are advancing to Day 2 tomorrow.

Ethan Boll is the lone Pirate who will be competing for a championship tomorrow, as the Senior got a first round bye and won his next two matches to advance in the 220-pounds division. He will wrestle Colton Long of Howard Lake tomorrow in the semifinals for a spot in the championship.

Three other Pirates will be in the wrestlebacks tomorrow as well. Gavyn Hlucny is competing at 126-pounds, and received a first round bye before winning a match 11-2 against Marquis Richter of Mandan. Hlucby then lost via a Pin in the next round sending him to the consolation side of the bracket where he will pick back up tomorrow.

Ethan Bowman is another Pirate that reached the quarterfinals before losing his first match, and the senior will now wrestle tomorrow in the consolation bracket. And junior Carter Coauette had a strong showing winning his first match of the day on a pin 1:56 into the match and then winning 10-2 in his second match to advance to the quarterfinals. Coauette would lose his quarterfinal match to Dane Jorgensen of Bemidji 13-3, and he will now be in the consolation bracket when things pick back up tomorrow. 

Evin Trudeau, Casey Weiland, Hunter Knutson, and Hunter Kresl were the other Pirates competing at the varsity level that did not advance past today. All of the Pirate individuals and results from the first day, as well as the next matchup for those still competing, are down below.
