FREE MOVING SCREENING TO PRECEDE SECOND CONVOCATION OF PARISH LEADERS AT SACRED HEART SCHOOL

A free screening of “Paul, Apostle of Christ” will be held on October 4 at 7:00 p.m. in the auditorium at Sacred Heart School, East Grand Forks. The event, sponsored by the Office of Formation in Discipleship, is open to the public and no registration is required.

The movie stars James Faulkner as St. Paul and Jim Caviezel (who portrayed Jesus in “The Passion of the Christ”) as St. Luke. The movie is set within Nero’s persecution of Christians in Rome as Paul recounts his journey from persecuting the Church to becoming a Christian and an ardent missionary disciple.

Following the movie, producer Eric Groth of ODB Films will present reflections on making the movie and its reception and take questions from the audience.

On October 5, the Office of Formation in Discipleship is sponsoring a second Convocation of Parish Leaders at Sacred Heart School, East Grand Forks, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Registration begins at 8 a.m. Lunch will be served.

This event is a follow up to the Convocation of Parish Leaders held in conjunction with the Diocese of Fargo at the end of November 2018. The 2019 convocation will only include delegates from the Diocese of Crookston. Priests and parishioners who attended last year are welcome. Others interested in attending the convocation as a parish delegate should contact their pastors.

The day will be grounded in prayer and focused on the ministry of the laity. Delegates from parishes across the diocese will gather to pray with and learn from others who seek to grow as missionary disciples of Jesus Christ.

Eric Groth and Dough Tooke of OBD Films will share films from their new series “Restored: Stories of Encounter.” They highlight Catholics engaged in missionary discipleship. Parishioners from throughout the Diocese of Crookston will also share how they respond to the call to become missionary disciples. Delegates will also spend time meeting with others from their parish or parish cluster.
