To help celebrate National Wildlife Refuge Week, the Friends of Rydell and Glacial Ridge Refuges Association (FRGRRA) will host their second annual Walk for the Wild 5k and fundraising event at Rydell National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) southwest of Erskine, MN on Sunday, October 8, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
There will be a designated 5k (3.1-mile) route made up of three different paved, yet scenic wildlife viewing trails around Rydell for walking or moving (as one is able) in nature. There will be an option of a guided trail walk as well as the option to go on your own. All 5k finishers will receive an official Walk for the Wild Finisher sticker.
For an added fun and immersive fall experience along the trail, a bingo scavenger hunt game card will be available for all participants. Each participant with one or more bingos on their card will be entered into a drawing at the end for a chance to win a Rydell or Glacial Ridge NWR t-shirt.
Registration for the 5k is free and donations are welcome. All donations received will benefit interpretive and educational programs at the Refuge, along with continuing outdoor accessibility for all.
