GAS LEAK REPORTED AT THE SOLAR GAS YARD NEAR MENTOR

On Monday, October 23, at approximately 10:48 p.m., The Polk County Sheriff’s Office along with the Mentor Fire Department were dispatched to the Solar Gas Yard located at 16545 US Highway 2 in Mentor for a propane leak. It was determined that a 6000 gallon propane tank was leaking. A residence located next to the Solar Gas Yard was evacuated and Highway was closed for a short time for safety.

The 6000 gallon propane tank was left to disperse until it was safe to shut the valves to the tank so it could be fixed.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Minnesota State Patrol.

No further information will be released at this time. There is no danger to the public.
