Georgia Fuchs, 97, Fertile, MN, formerly of Lake Park, MN passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, December 31, 2023, at Fair Meadow Nursing Home in Fertile.

Georgia Louise Hamernik was born on a farm in Becker County, MN on May 11, 1926, to parents Frank and Aloise (Dvorak) Hamernik. She attended District No.4 school until 1940, then helped on the farm until she turned 17. Georgie moved to Fargo, ND to do “housework” for a local family. Georgie met Carl at a dance at the Model Hall in Fargo and they were married on August 5, 1945, in Walworth Baptist Church. They lived on a farm near Felton, and were blessed with 5 children. In May of 1962, they moved to a farm south of Lake Park, MN. Georgie and Carl remained on the farm until 1964 and then they moved into the town of Lake Park. They worked together at Swift and Co. in Detroit Lakes until Georgie retired in 1988.

Beyond her dedication to family, Georgie found joy in a variety of hobbies and interests including cooking, making her famous dill pickles, dancing, and spending time with her family at the casino. Georgie also enjoyed quilting, celebrating birthdays with her friends in the Lake Park Birthday Club, and gardening with Carl.

She is survived by her two sons, Wally (Sandy) Fuchs, and Lyle (Diane) Fuchs; and three daughters, Ginny (David) Strem, Ione Bloom, and Nancy Anderson. Georgie is also survived by her 11 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Helen Slette, and Irene Klementson; brother, Ed (Arlene) Hamernik; sisters-in-law, Marlys Hamernik and Marilyn Fuchs; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Carl Fuchs; her parents; grandson, Brent Bloom; son-in-law, Robert Anderson; two sisters, Anna and Betty; and three brothers, Frank, Jerry, and Stanley.

The family would like to thank the staff of Fair Meadow Nursing Home for the wonderful care they have shown their mother over the past three years; it was greatly appreciated.
