GRAND FORKS FIRE DEPARTMENT CALLED TO AN APARTMENT FIRE

At approximately 9:08 am on Saturday, October 10, the Grand Forks Fire Department responded to 750 North 43rd Street for a reported structure fire in a second-floor apartment. Reports indicated that smoke and fire could be seen by the reporting party.

Fire crews arrived on scene to find smoke coming from a window in a second-floor apartment. The fire was quickly extinguished and with the assistance of the Grand Forks Police Department, two pets (a dog and cat) were rescued and cared for by emergency personnel. The interior of the apartment sustained smoke and fire damage. The damage estimate is $5,000.00. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

The Grand Forks Fire Department responded with one command vehicle, 4 engines, and one ladder truck with 16 personnel. There were no reported injuries to firefighters or civilians. The fire department was assisted by the Grand Forks Police Department and Altru Ambulance.
