At approximately 10:41 a.m. on Saturday, December 21st the Grand Forks Fire Department was dispatched for a report of a fire at Wood Products at 1002 S. 46th St.
Crews arrived on scene and found active fire in the Southwest corner of the building. The fire sprinkler system had activated. Fire crews extinguished the fire and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation. The fire appears to have started in a dust collection system utilized to collect dust used for heating purposes. Damage estimates as a result of the fire are yet to be determined. Wood Products employees were on site at the time of the fire, and there were no injuries as a result of this incident.
The Fire Department responded with 5 engines, one ladder truck and one command vehicle with a total 17 personnel. They were assisted by the Grand Forks Police Department and Altru Ambulance.
