At approximately 9:18 a.m. on Friday, January 7th, the Grand Forks Fire Department was dispatched to Smitty’s Transmission Service at 4300 Gateway Dr. for a report of a vehicle fire inside the structure.
Fire crews arrived on the scene to find smoke coming from an open overhead garage door. Crews entered the structure and extinguished the fire containing fire damage to the vehicle involved. The structure sustained some smoke damage, and the business was able to resume operations by approximately 10:30 am.
The Grand Forks Fire Department responded with five engines, one truck, and one command vehicle with seventeen personnel. No occupant or fire service injuries were reported. The Fire Department was assisted by the Grand Forks Police Department, Altru Ambulance, and the City of Grand Forks Public Works Department.
