GRAND FORKS FIRE DEPARTMENT RESPONDS TO HOME FIRE

At approximately 2:10 p.m.pm on Thursday, February 4, Grand Forks firefighters responded to 2304 44th Ave South for a report of smoke coming from behind a fireplace inside of the home.

Firefighters arrived on the scene and after investigating the source of the smoke, discovered smoldering structural material on the exterior wall next to the fireplace. Firefighters quickly extinguished the smoldering materials. Damage is estimated at $2000.00. There were no reported injuries. The cause of the fire was investigated and deemed electrical in nature.

The Grand Forks Fire Department responded with 17 personnel and was assisted by GFPD, Altru ambulance, Xcel Energy, and the City of Grand Forks Electrical Inspections office.
