The Grand Forks Fire Department was dispatched at approximately 9:05 p.m. last night for a report of fire seen on the outside of a single-family house. Upon our arrival, fire crews found a small amount of fire breaching the exterior of the building. When access was gained into the house, crews encountered a large amount of fire that burned through portions of the main and second floors. The residents were not home at the time of the fire.
The building sustained significant damage, and the fire’s cause is still being investigated. There were no injuries to any fire department personnel. The fire department responded with five engines, one ladder truck, and one command vehicle staffed with twenty personnel. The fire department was assisted by the Grand Forks Police Department, Altru Ambulance, and Xcel Energy.
