GRAND FORKS MAN ARRESTED FOR RECKLESS ENDANGERMENT AFTER FIRING HANDGUN AT PASSING CAR

On Monday, October 7 at approximately 5:38 p.m., officers from the Grand Forks Police Department were called to the 2000 block of S. Washington St. for an incident involving gunfire. Officers arrived and learned that a male subject who was in the vicinity of Orton‘s, had fired a handgun towards a car that was driving past on the frontage road. One of the occupants of the vehicle was known by the shooter, and it is believed that this incident was a continuation of a prior incident between the two subjects. Nobody was injured during the incident, and there is not believed to be a further threat to the public.

A male subject, identified as Richard Richardson, 27 y.o. of Grand Forks, was arrested in connection to this incident.  Richardson was charged with reckless endangerment and incarcerated at the Grand Forks County Correctional Facility.  The incident is still under active investigation.  If anybody has information regarding this incident, or they identify damage to property which may be related to this incident, they are encouraged to contact the Grand Forks Police Department at 701-787-8000.
