On Saturday, March 27 at approximately 4:46 a.m., officers of the Grand Forks Police Department responded to a one-vehicle accident in the 2300 block of South Columbia Rd. Upon arrival, a 2002 GMC Yukon was located on its passenger side resting against a light pole. Witnesses reported a male driver fled the area on foot to the east. Officers were able to locate the driver a short distance away.
The driver was identified as 34-year-old Grand Forks resident Jeremiah Forsberg. Forsberg was transported to Altru Hospital with what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries. Initial investigation has shown that Forsberg was turning north onto South Columbia Rd. when he lost control of his vehicle causing it to flip onto its side. Forsberg was charged with driving under the influence (DUI), DUI Refusal, and leaving the scene of a crash.
