GRAND FORKS MAN DIES FALLING UNDER SKID STEER DURING SNOW REMOVAL

On Friday, February 9 at approximately 3:05 a.m. officers of the Grand Forks Police Department, along with the Grand Forks Fire Department and Altru Paramedics, were dispatched to 600 High Plains Court for a report of an injury traffic crash.

Officers arrived on scene and attempted CPR on one male but he was pronounced deceased on scene.  Parties involved were working as a snow removal crew when the incident occurred.  The injury appears to have happened when the victim slipped off of the front of a skid steer and the subject fell under the wheels of the vehicle.

The victim, in this case, has been identified as Robert J. Coons, 61 y/o, Grand Forks.

The investigation is ongoing and foul play is not suspected in this incident.

The Grand Forks Police Department received assistance from the Grand Forks Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Team, the Northeast UAS Regional Team, UND PD and Grand Forks Police Department Detectives.

The Grand Forks Police Department would like to remind everyone to slow down when operating any vehicle on the ice and snow and to utilize all proper safety equipment and practices.
