GRAND FORKS UPDATES FLOOD INFORMATION, ROAD/BRIDGE CLOSURES

Here is an update on the flood response in Grand Forks.

The National Weather Service has a forecasted crest of the Red River over 48 ft. later this week.

The Point Bridge on Minnesota Ave. was closed at 1 pm on Sunday, April 24th.

The Sorlie Bridge on Demers Ave. is still open at this time.  Crews from Grand Forks and East Grand Forks expect the Sorlie Bridge to close some time on Monday, April 25, 2022.  A notification will be sent out on Monday with the extact time of that closure.

The Kennedy Bridge is expected to remain open at these projected river levels.  The Kennedy Bridge is not impacted until 52 feet

The closure into Riverside Park on N. 1st St. has been installed.

27th Ave. N. has been closed over the coulee.

N. Shadyridge Rd. is currently closed with S. Shadyridge Rd. expected to be closed by early Monday morning.  First responder crews will stage equipment in that neighborhood as they get cut off when both roads are closed.

The Wastewater Treatment plant is still running at high capacity.  On Saturday, the plant pumped 26 million gallons which is 3 times normal operation.  The plant is expected to pump 18 million gallons on Sunday.  Residents are still asked to limit water usage for the next couple of days.  Essential water use only, no unnecessary washing machine or dishwasher use please.
