GRAND FORKS NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE LISTS ROADS THAT WILL BE CLOSED DUE TO FLOODING

With the recent heavy rains and snowmelt, the National Weather Service has increased the projected crest of the Red River in Grand Forks to over 48 ft. by the middle of this coming week.

As a result, the City of Grand Forks is taking several flood response actions and putting them into place.

Due to the rapid rise of the river, several closures will go in place starting on Sunday, April 24.

The Greenway will officially be closed Sunday, April 24, at 8:00 a.m. This includes Riverside Park, Lincoln Dr. Park, North Pedestrian Bridge and South Pedestrian Bridge.

The access to Riverside Park will be closed, the Point Bridge on Minnesota Ave. will be closed. The Sorlie Bridge on Demers Ave. will remain open as of now.

27th Ave. N. will be closed on Sunday.

N. 55th St. was closed today from 8th Ave. N. to University Ave. until further notice due to overland flooding.

The Kennedy Bridge is expected to remain open at these projected river levels, as it is not impacted until 52 ft.

City crews will provide essential flood fighting services.
