On September 12, 2021, officers were called to meet a vehicle that was driving to Altru Hospital ER with a stabbing victim. Officers arrived at the ER and determined a 19-year-old male had been stabbed at a south end location. Officers were able to locate the location of the incident and a person of interest was taken into custody. At this time the incident is in the investigative stage and further information will be forthcoming from the PD Criminal Investigations Bureau. UPDATE (September 13, 2021 at 4:20 PM)
Investigators have learned that a disturbance occurred in the 2800 Block of South 34th Street between John Bakizuwabo, a 20-year-old Grand Forks resident, and Hassan Mohamed Hussein, a 28-year-old Grand Forks resident. Bakizuwabo was transported to Altru ER with a puncture wound to his torso. Hussein was subsequently located and arrested for Attempted Murder which is an A Felony in North Dakota, punishable by up to 20 years in prison.
This incident remains under active investigation by the Grand Forks Police Department.
