Yesterday, at approximately 11:23 p.m., an Officer of the Grand Forks Police
Department witnessed a small passenger car drive through the closed construction zone in the 200 block of N 4th St. As the car was driving through the zone, it struck one of the road closure signs and continued on. The Officer attempted to perform a traffic stop on the vehicle, but the vehicle refused to pull over.
The Grand Forks Police continued to follow the suspect vehicle with emergency
equipment activated, and a short pursuit ensued through the downtown area at low to moderate speeds.
The Grand Forks Police officers were able to successfully perform a PIT (Pursuit
Intervention Technique) maneuver on the suspect vehicle in the 500 block of N 3rd St bringing it to a stop. At this time the driver was taken into custody and transported to the correctional center where she was charged with Driving Under the Influence, fleeing in a Motor Vehicle, and Driving Under Suspension. She was also cited for Possession of Marijuana, Marijuana Paraphernalia and Open Container in a Motor Vehicle.
No one was injured during this incident, and there is no threat to the public at large.
The female suspect arrested was identified as 21-year-old Karley Litchy of Fargo, North Dakota.
