On January 25 at approximately 12:01 am, a male subject was transported via a personal car to the Altru Health Systems emergency room for severe lacerations to his head and arm.
The victim stated that he was assaulted with an edged weapon by a random male subject in a residential area to the south of the hospital. The vehicle that dropped the victim off at the hospital is said to have been a passerby, but that person’s identity is currently unknown.
Officers investigated several possible locations stated by the victim; however, no evidence of an assault or anything related to this incident has been located.
At this time, it is unknown where the assault took place, or if it even occurred within the city of Grand Forks. The victim has been treated and released for his injuries. The Grand Forks Police Department has been unable to corroborate the victim’s statement. No evidence has been obtained to suggest a threat to the public, but people are encouraged to be aware of their surroundings and watch for any suspicious persons or circumstances.
