GRAND FORKS POLICE SEARCHING FOR PERSON WHO FIRED WEAPON ON SO. 12TH STREET

On June 19, 2022, around 4:50 p.m., Grand Forks Police Department (GFPD) officers were dispatched to the 1900 block of So. 12th St. for a weapons violation call.

When the officers arrived in the area, they located several shell casings on the ground. No one was injured during this event. This is an ongoing investigation, if anyone has any information, please call the Grand Forks Police.

The Grand Forks Police Department has identified 26-year-old Kyle Emerson Genes as the suspect in this incident. Genes was arrested and charged with four (4) counts of Reckless Endangerment, a class C Felony.

We are aware of media outlets reporting that this event may have been in retribution for an incident that occurred in East Grand Forks last year. At this time, there is no information corroborating this connection. The current event stems from a domestic related incident and there are no indications that the location was in any way tied to the domestic or the earlier incident in East Grand Forks.
