On March 26, at approximately 8:00 a.m., officers of the Grand Forks Police Department were dispatched to a residence in the 1700 block of Cottonwood Street after a 911 caller reported a male victim suffering from a laceration to his neck. Responding officers located a male victim in the residence with an injury that was later determined to have been caused by a knife. The victim was transported to Altru Hospital by ambulance for treatment. A second male subject, who was found to be the roommate of the male victim, was present in the residence at the time of this preliminary investigation.
On April 1, after further investigation, the roommate, 29-year-old Grand Forks resident Joshua Franklin, was arrested and has been preliminarily charged with Attempted Murder. Formal charges and any potential additional charges stemming from this investigation will be determined after review by the Grand Forks County States Attorney’s Office.
