HAPPY JOE WHITTY – FOUNDER OF HAPPY JOES PIZZA PASSED AWAY TODAY

Happy Joe Whitty, 82, the founder of Happy Joe’s Pizza and Ice Cream Parlor passed away this morning (October 29) at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice in Bettendorf, Iowa, surrounded by his family and close friends.  Happy Joe had close ties to Crookston, running a bakery in town before he decided to start the Happy Joes empire.  Happy Joe visited Crookston’s Happy Joe’s Pizza and Ice Cream Parlor many times over the past 30-plus years.  He will be missed, but his legacy will live on for years to come at all the Happy Joe’s Pizza and Ice Cream Parlor locations.

A statement from Happy Joes Pizza –
Joe was deeply loved by his family and friends, and the loss that will be felt by his passing cannot be put into words. In addition to his family, those of us who had the opportunity to work with him are without words to express this tremendous loss. He was an extraordinarily smart and accomplished Entrepreneur who built a company that represents and practices the same principles he used to create and maintain Happy Joe’s for 47 Years.

Services are pending at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home in Davenport, Iowa.

Below is a video interview that KROX had with Happy Joe in 2012.
