Harlan James Kaml – OBIT

Harlan James Kaml, 73, of Euclid, MN, passed away peacefully in his home on April 4, 2024, after a long battle with health challenges.

Harlan was born on May 22, 1950, to Paul & Rose (Kluzak) Kaml in Crookston, Minnesota. After graduating from Central High School in 1968, he worked various jobs on the family farm and assisted rural neighbors until he started a career in trucking. Harlan worked at Patco Trucking in East Grand Forks, MN until he suffered a stroke in August 2003.

He married Lorna Piolo on December 29, 1988, and they went on to have two daughters, Sarah and Kelsey, whom they raised on the family farm in Euclid, MN. In 2023, he was blessed with two grandchildren whom he loved watching grow.

Harlan enjoyed spending summers on the tractor, tending the fields with his daughters riding along.  He was an avid outdoorsman who loved deer hunting in the fall. Harlan had a passion for caring for and collecting firearms. For years, he operated Kaml’s Gun Shop and frequently attended local gun shows. He was always willing to lend a helping hand or a listening ear and could call many a friend. As busy as Harlan could keep himself, he also enjoyed relaxing at home watching old western shows and spending time with his dog. Harlan will be deeply missed by his family.

Harlan is preceded in death by his parents, Paul & Rose (Kluzak) Kaml, his brother Duane, and sister, Carolyn. Harlan is survived by his wife, Lorna of Euclid, MN; his daughters and their families, Sarah and Taylor Henrickson of Barnesville, MN; Kelsey and Curtis Regan of Grand Forks, ND; two grandchildren Aksel Henrickson and Wesley Regan; sisters Marian and Danny Green of Bynum, Alabama; and Elaine Kaml of Crookston, MN; and brother Myron and Charlene Kaml of Green River, Wyoming.

The funeral service will be held on Monday, April 15th at 1:00 p.m. at the Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home in Crookston, with burial taking place at the Czech National Cemetery in Tabor. Visitation will be held one hour before the service.
