Heath Brian Waxler – Obit

Heath Brian Waxler, age 40, of Crookston, MN, passed away due to failing health Wednesday morning, February 24, 2021, in Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND comforted by having his family at his side.

Heath was born in Crookston on November 1, 1980, to Brian Edward and Elizabeth Jean (Knudson) Waxler. He was baptized and confirmed in Trinity Lutheran Church and attended Crookston Public Schools. He participated in football as a freshman and also played on the tennis team for a few years. Hockey was always Heath’s passion and he was a stellar defenseman for the Pirates throughout his high school career. He graduated from Central High School with the Class of 1999 and for the next several years spent time in the Twin Cities and the state of Washington. He returned to Crookston and then moved to East Grand Forks. Heath met his future wife, Beth Naomi Carriveau, in 2001, and while living in Grand Forks together their daughter, Lexia, was born in 2005. In 2007 they moved to Crookston where their daughter, Livia, was born and sadly passed away in 2008. In 2010 daughter, Lilliana “Lily”, was welcomed into the family. Heath and Beth were united in marriage on August 18, 2012. Heath spent most of his working life doing construction.

Heath is survived by Beth of Grand Forks, ND; their daughters, Lexia and Lily, of Grand Forks; father, Brian Waxler, of Crookston, MN; brother, Ben Waxler, of Moorhead, MN; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. In addition to his daughter, Livia, Heath was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth Jean Volker; grandparents, Jim and Jordyce Waxler, and Donald and Sybil Knudson; and other family members. A memorial service for Heath Waxler will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 13, 2021, in the Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home in Crookston with The Rev. Greg Isaacson, officiating. Visitation with the family will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Masks will be required and social distancing observed with attendance limited to 80 people including family. The funeral will be live-streamed by logging on to www.stenshoelhouske.com, clicking on Heath’s obituary, and then the prompt to view the service. It will continue to be available to watch for the next year. A reception will be held at the Crookston Eagle’s Aerie, 105 South Broadway, immediately following Heath’s service with seating for 140.
