UPDATE: 12/30/20 11:24 A.M.
The Grand Forks Regional Special Operations Group, Crookston Police Department, Polk County Sheriff’s Office, and other assisting agencies executed a high-risk warrant service in the area of North Acres Estates on Wednesday morning.
Crookston Police Chief Paul Biermaier said the suspect was taken into custody without incident. “This morning we learned of a suspect that was in the trailer park at North Acres Estates,” said Biermaier. “Because of the situation, it was considered a high-risk warrant service – arrest warrant. With the intel we had, we decided to get a hold of our Grand Forks Regional Special Operations Group. They came over, did all the briefings and the warrant was executed without any incident. The person was taken into custody. At this time, I’m not able to release the name but I probably will be able to after a bit.”
The heavy police presence included several teams within the Special Operations Unit, which Biermaier said is normal as each unit works as a team to keep everyone safe. “When the Special Operations Group comes over, they come over with their whole team,” said Biermaier. “It’s the Bomb Squad, SWAT Team, and the Crisis Negotiation Team. They’re a unit, a cohesive unit. They operate together. Everybody has a special job. It looks like something pretty drastic, but that’s how it works. And that’s how we keep everybody safe.”
