HOME HAS EXTENSIVE DAMAGE FOLLOWING SATURDAY MORNING FIRE

The Crookston Fire Department responded to a house fire at 624 Hunter Street on Saturday morning.  Incident Commander Chris Klawitter said the house had extensive damage, but everyone got out safely. “We got dispatched at 11:06 a.m. to the report of a fire in an upstairs bedroom,” said Klawitter.  “We arrived on scene and found fire upstairs and in the attic of an older two-story house.  We went to work to extinguish the fire. There was extensive damage to the second story and attic space with water and smoke damage on the main floor.  All of the occupants and pets got out with no issue.”

The State Fire Marshall was on scene to investigate.  “The Fire Marshall was involved in the investigation along with our staff,” said Klawitter.  “The cause was determined it was a juvenile in the home that did light some bedding material on fire. As of right now, I believe the investigation is closed.”
