HUNTER NICHOLAS HAS 24 POINTS & 19 REBOUNDS TO LEAD PIRATE HOOPS OVER BAGLEY

The Crookston Pirate Boys Basketball team used three runs throughout the game to build a sizable lead and cruised to their second win of the year with a 77-51 victory over the Bagley Flyers in a game played in Crookston.  Hunter Nicholas led Crookston with a monster game, going for 24 points and 19 rebounds.

FIRST HALF
The game was tied at 4-4 over two minutes into the game when Crookston went on a 10-0 run.  The run was sparked by a Reggie Winjum offensive rebound and a beautiful pass to Hunter Nicholas for a basket.  It was followed by six points from Gavin Winger, and the run was capped by a Jack Everett basket for a 14-4 lead over five minutes into the game.
Bagley went on a run a few minutes later to get within a 21-13 deficit with 8:13 left in the half.  Crookston answered with a 12-0 run that started with a basket by Caden Boike, a Nicholas basket in the paint, another Boike basket, and a Tanner Giese three-pointer followed by a three-point play for a 33-13 lead with less than six minutes remaining in the half.  The teams played pretty even the rest of the half, and Crookston took a 42-24 lead into halftime.

SECOND HALF –
The teams played even for the first seven minutes of the second half, and Crookston led 55-38 eight minutes into the half.  Crookston opened up the game a little more when they went on a 10-1 run with a Giese free throw followed by four Nicholas points, a Boike basket, and the run was capped by a Giese banked three-pointer for a 65-39 lead.  Crookston was able to play most of their players in the game, and George Widman scored the final Pirate point with a free throw, and they won the game 77-51.
Crookston was 8 of 16 from the free throw line, while Bagley was 11 of 26.

Crookston improves to 2-3 on the year and will be off until they travel to Roseau on December 27.  Bagley drops to 0-5 on the year.
