In Progress/Studio 110 in partnership with Alluma and the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota held a special Community Red Carpet Event at the Grand Theatre in Crookston on Saturday, June 11 at 1:00 p.m. for three students that won 1st place in their categories of the 17th Annual MY HERO International Film Festival.
The event began with Alluma’s Chief Executive Officer, Shanna Reitmeier welcoming the audience to the event and future Crookston High School Matt Torgerson introducing the three winning students, Angel Miracle Espericueta, Morgan Arguelles, and Azomali Obisakin to the audience before showing screenings of their films, “8 minutes, and 46 seconds,”, “5400 Children,”, and “Love Can Heal Us All.”
After the screenings, Reitmeier invited Studio 110 Studio Coordinator Rena Bouchard, Event Photography instructor Tomas Leal, Alluma Manager of Trauma-Informed Care Chris Green, and the three artists up to the front of the theater to hold a panel discussion with the audience, who asked them questions about Studio 110, the ideas and motivations the artists had in making their films and if they had any other films planned for the future, and things people can do to deal with trauma. It was also revealed that they were planning to have Studio 110 be apart of the Ox Cart Days Parade with its own float later this summer. After the panel, the event than drew raffle tickets for prizes that had been donated from various businesses around Crookston to the event.
After the panel, the event was led to the Green Square in Downtown Crookston, where they could purchase food from the Black Widow food truck and listen to music performed by The Dank.
