Janice Ostgarden, 83, Fertile, MN, passed away on Tuesday, April 5, 2022, at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND. 
Janice Marie Moteberg was born in Norman County, MN on December 6, 1938, the daughter of Alice Lindberg and Carl Moteberg. She was baptized on January 23, 1939, in the Norman Congregation and later confirmed on September 28, 1952, at Sundal Lutheran Church. She attended a country school in Norman County, later attended Fertile High School, and eventually obtained her GED. On March 18, 1955, Janice married Clarence (Bud) Allen Ostgarden at the Fertile parsonage. They lived in Fertile until moving to Moorhead, MN to raise their family in 1958. Clarence and Janice raised three boys, Steve, Mark, and Timothy. She was a stay-at-home mom until going to work at Moorhead High School as a cook when the boys were in high school. She was a wonderful cook, loved to sew (especially Hardanger), play cards, do puzzles, and play with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In the fall of 2021, Janice moved from 501 Maple Lane, in Moorhead to Fertile. She was just starting to enjoy living in this community again when she passed.
Janice is survived by her three sons, Steve (Elaine), Gary MN, Mark (Karen), Moorhead MN, and Timothy (Lynnette), Moorhead MN; seven grandchildren, Alison (Kelly) Voss, Troy (Lindsey Mateila), Erik (Megan), Charbara (Rodney) Anna, Amy (Kelly) Solie, Miranda, and Joseph (Theresa); eighteen great-grandchildren, Jacob and Abigail Voss, Gunnar, Griffin, and Gannon, Travien, Brenden, Ravyn, and Ryder Anna, Gracie, Britta, and Harper Solie, Isaiah and Emmerlee, Nate, Eli, Charlie, and Alex Therese; and two sisters-in-law, Lyla Moteberg and Grace Aker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence (Bud) Ostgarden; siblings, Darlene Kronschnabel, and Allen Moteberg; and parents, Alice and Carl Moteberg.
Memorial Service: 2:00 PM, Wednesday, April 13, 2022, at Erikson-Vik-Ganje Funeral Home, Fertile, MN.
Visitation: One hour before the service at the funeral home.
Inurnment: Little Norway Lutheran Cemetery, Fertile, MN
