Jason Allen Chesley – OBIT

Jason Allen Chesley, age 64, passed away at Advent Health System, surrounded by his family, on October 1, 2024 after a long battle with Frontotemporal Dementia. Jason was born on April 21, 1960 in Crookston, Minnesota to Allen and Joyce (Machart) Chesley. He spent his youth attending and graduating from the Crookston School System. He enjoyed orchestra, playing baseball, golf, bowling and fishing.

Jason graduated high school with honors in May,1978, he attended University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, ND earning a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Chemical Engineering in 1982 and Master of Science (MS) in Chemical Engineering in 1983, both with honors. He then achieved a Doctor of Chemical Engineering (PhD), in 1987 from Iowa State University with honors.

It was at Iowa State where his major professor introduced him to Jolene Brinkmeyer, and they were married on March 7, 1987. They welcomed 2 sons. Allen Jeffrey (Raynee) 31 and Chase Jason 28. He has 3 grandsons, Julien, Frankie and Zayvien.

Jason spent most of his career with 3M in the Abrasives division as a Product and Process Engineer. He has received many certificates and awards throughout his career including named as inventor on 23 3M patents. Before retiring he worked for Pella Corp. in Pella, Iowa for 6 years as a Senior Engineering Technical Lead.

Jason was a brilliant man who always worked hard to achieve his academic and career goals, but his family and friends brought him the most joy. Whether it was playing fantasy baseball with his friends from high school into adulthood or playing with his sons, grandsons, nieces and nephews he was always up for having fun. He was quick to laugh and joke around with others. He loved his family dearly.

In 2018 Jolene & Jason moved to Lake Waukomis, MO where he enjoyed his retirement fishing, boating, walks and golf cart rides around the lake. What he loved most of all was time with family.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Jolene; his sons, Allen (Raynee) and Chase; his grandsons Julien, Frankie and Zayvien. He is also survived by his mother, Joyce; sisters, Teresa (Brad) Barnett, Carol (Bruce) Fauquher, and DeAnna (Dan) Rattray; his mother and father-in-law Jeffrey and Bonnie Brinkmeyer; his brothers and sisters-in-law Bruce (Teresa) Brinkmeyer, Wade (Stacy) Brinkmeyer and Wendy (John) Schmitz; along with 22 nieces and nephews and 12 great nieces and nephews.

Jason was preceded in death by his father, Allen Chesley.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the family for a memorial fund to be established.
